VASSAR, N.Y. – Junior
Kate Lane led the Ephs to a 3-2 victory against Vassar on Wednesday night, as she posted a career-high 22 kills paired with 16 digs to record her second double-double of the season.
With the win, the Ephs improve to 5-2 on the season.
Williams dropped the opening set, in a close contest of 25-23, before responding with a 25-21 victory in the second set to even the match. The Ephs carried the energy into the third set, defeating Vassar 29-27 in a back-and-forth battle to take a 2-1 lead.
Vassar answered in the fourth set, taking a 25-15 victory to force a fifth set, but Williams regained control in the final set, earning a 15-11 victory to secure the five-set win on the road.
Lane led the Williams offense with 22 kills on .513 hitting, while
Chidimma Obi added 10 kills and four blocks.
Clara Massey contributed nine kills and four blocks, while
Elsa Miller posted seven kills and a team-high seven blocks.
Eve Kaplan anchored the Ephs defensively with a team-high 27 digs, while Lane added 16 digs to complete her double-double.
Lilly Carstens recorded six digs, while
Morgan Daetz and Carstens paced the Williams offense with 28 and 22 assists, respectively.
Williams returns to action this weekend as they Ephs open up NESCAC play against Tufts and Bates on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Williams will travel to Tufts on Friday to compete at 7:00 p.m.
