Kate Lenox (Kurzanski) returned to Williams College as Assistant Field Hockey Coach in 2023 and will be entering her third consecutive season on the staff in 2025.
During the 2024 season, the Ephs reached the NCAA Division III Final Four for the second time in the last three years, won a program-record 14 games and went 9-1 in the loaded NESCAC. The team opened the season 11 straight wins, while Lenox and head coach Alix Barrale were named the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Kiki Higgins earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America First Team laurels, while Pilar Torres and Ellie Smith were named to the Second Team.
During the 2023 season, the Ephs reached the NESCAC championship game and the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Higgins, Torres and Elizabeth Scarcella were named to the NFHCAÂ All-Region II Team. Higgins and Torres earned spots on the First Team and Scarcella represented the Ephs on the Second Team.
Higgins and Torres also earned spots on the NESCAC All-Conference First Team, with Scarcella being on the Second Team. The 2023 team went 8-3 on Williamson Field.
Previously, she served as the Head Field Hockey Coach at New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) member Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, from January 2020 - June 2023.
While at Clark, Kurzanski improved the team’s record from 2-15 in the 2021 season to 6-11 in 2022. In both seasons, Kurzanski had two student-athletes earn NEWMAC All-Conference honors. She saw multiple players acknowledged on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic teams, while her squad was recognized with the NFHCA National Academic Team award.
In charge of all program facets, Kurzanski handled the day-to-day practice planning, recruitment of student-athletes, film breakdown, equipment and gear ordering, on-campus clinics, and monitored the academic progress and mental well-being of student-athletes. She also served as Clark’s Intramural Director, setting up various sport leagues throughout the school year, and hiring and overseeing workers for those leagues.
Prior to Clark, Kurzanski served as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Williams under Head Coach Alix Barrale for three seasons from 2017-20. During her time, the Ephs saw their record improve each season, while making the NESCAC semifinals each year. Additionally, she assisted in the practice planning, recruiting, film analysis, and worked closely with the goalkeepers.
In 2016–17, Kurzanski served as the Assistant Coach at Union College in the Liberty League Conference. The Buffalo, New York, native also spent five years as a Coach for the WNY Field Hockey Club from 2014-19, where she was in charge of mainly the U19 programs, helping to prepare elite field hockey players in the area for the collegiate level of play.
Kurzanski played field hockey at NCAA Division II Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she was a two-year starter before suffering a career-ending injury. Post injury, she moved into an Assistant Coaching role with the Lakers under Head Coach Stacey Gaudette.
Kurzanski graduated from Niagara University in 2016, earning a master's in business administration. She completed her bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in sport business management, from Mercyhurst in 2014.
