Steffen Siebert is entering his fourth season as the Head Coach of the Williams College men's soccer team in 2025 after serving as the Interim Head Coach of the program in 2021.

In his first three seasons as the Head Coach, Siebert led the program to new heights; finishing in the top 25 nationally each season including two top 10 finishes, a sectional title and a Little 3 tittle. Siebert`s three seasons at the helm saw the program breaking over a decade long records and achievements in most wins, highest winning percentage, hosting NCAA games, highest national rankings and leading the program to its first NCAA national final since 1995,  which is a feat that had only been accomplished twice before in the 102 years of Williams Men’s Soccer (1993 and 1995).  This incredible turnaround of the program earned Siebert the title of National Coach of the Year by the New England Soccer Journal.

He brings with him a strong history of identifying and developing players at all levels he has coached, which resulted in producing All-American players at every institution where he was the head coach.  Many of his players that he coached have also signed professional contracts in the MLS and USL as well as with clubs in Europe. There have been multiple players who made their national team debut during their playing careers under Siebert.

Siebert holds the prestigious U.S. Soccer and UEFA 'A' Licenses, is the youngest U.S. Soccer 'A' License instructor in country and instructs the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma.  Siebert is the lead instructor for the US Soccer ‘A” and “B” licenses as well as instructing the “A” and “B’ Pro courses for US Soccer which is specially designed for Professional Head Coaches and well as current professional players.

He holds a Doctoral Degree in Sports Leadership, a master’s degree in Sport Psychology and two bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science and Psychology.  Siebert has coached at all levels from stints in Major League Soccer, College and the academy system in Germany and the United States over the last 20 years.

His most recent stint prior to arriving at Williams was as a head coach at the semiprofessional level with Atlantic City FC.  During his time with the club, the club broke all records, including most points in team history and a final ranking 4th in the nation, earning him Coach of the Year honors.

Siebert also achieved significant success as the head coach at Springfield College. During his tenure, he built a top 15 program that won a regional or conference title in each year of his last three seasons and established a record of 49-7-6, .839.  Under Siebert's tutelage in that same time span, his Pride teams set school records for fewest losses (1), most shutouts (13), and winning percentage (.881), as well as wins (18) and goals in a single season (69) while producing multiple All-American and Academic All- American along the way.

Siebert is no stranger to coaching at the highest national and international levels. He brings a wealth of experience from the MLS and U.S. Soccer, having worked as one of the top two assistant coaches for MLS side Real Salt Lake and a two years stint at the U.S. Soccer national training center as the technical lead for the ‘A’ Senior License.

A native of Berlin Germany, Siebert himself was a two-time Academic All-American for Missouri Valley College and played semi-professional soccer in Germany before suffering a career-ending injury. Siebert was also a member of one of the top German youth academies, 1 F.C. Union Berlin.

Siebert resides in Williamstown, Massachusetts, with his wife, Tatum, and their three children: Adeline, Rose and Asher.

What former players of Steffen are saying about him:

“Being a personable coach at the highest level is a trait not many coaches in my experience have. But with Steffen, he has that quality and much more. He can speak to anyone in the locker room and lift their confidence. On the tactical side, he speaks to the finest detail about the game. For me, Steffen was a blessing coming into the RSL environment. A coach that cares about a player off the field as much as on the field.”

(Justin Meram, played at Real Salt Lake and current MLS & Iraq National Team player)

“Steffen is an amazing Coach; he has a great tactical knowledge of the game and explains things thoroughly and well. He pays attention to the details of the game which is what is needed at the highest levels of soccer. He connects with players on a personal level and as a coach and is always there for questions of any sort.”

(Justen Glad, played at Real Salt Lake, current MLS and U.S. National Team player)

“Steffen is one of the most knowledgeable coaches I have ever had the privilege of working with. His understanding of the game from a tactical standpoint is unmatched. He is someone who truly cares about his players and will always be there for them on and off the pitch. He is one of my greatest mentors I have had to this day.”

(Ryan Malone, played at Springfield College, Current 2. Bundesliga player)

“Out of all my coaches Steffen has been the most impactful in my life. His tactical knowledge of the game is unmatched but what makes him stand out as a coach is his ability to simplify his knowledge so his players can pick it up quickly. Steffen also has a great ability to teach life skills which all his players can implement off the field. I was a player of his at Springfield College and while there every member of his team not only increased their skills and knowledge of the game but also learned how to be more successful in life.”

(Christian Schneider, played at Springfield College, Current USL1 player)

“Steffen is an incredibly motivated and dedicated coach whose love of the game is infectious. He pushes players to improve in every area of soccer: tactically, technically, mentally, and physically. He encourages athletes to step outside of their comfort zone daily. Steffen has one of the best tactical minds I have ever worked with. He not only has an exceptional understanding of the game, but he also has the unique ability to communicate his ideas so that every player knows exactly what is expected of them.”

(Johnny Fenwick, Played as Atlantic City FC, current USL championship player)

“Steffen was the ideal kind of coach for my development as a player and person. His acute knowledge of the game and his ability to teach has helped me thrive and improve mentally and tactically to get to where I am now. I was always impressed by his tireless effort and attention to detail. I truly believe Steffen’s drive to help his players succeed in all areas of life is unmatched. It would be a great pleasure to play for and work with him again.”

(Jacob Campbell, Played at Atlantic City FC, current NISA player)
