Courtney Brewer

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Courtney Brewer was hired as a women’s basketball assistant coach in the summer of 2026 following a year on staff at Georgia College and State University.

“We are very excited to have Courtney join our program,” Manning said. “She brings a wealth of experience and high energy. We look forward to working with her to help our team grow.”

As a member of the coaching staff at Georgia College and State, Brewer had a hand in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, film breakdown and travel logistics. She led individual player development workout with guards, built connections with women’s basketball alumni to re-engage them with the program and assisted with defensive strategies and scouting reports throughout the season. In addition, Brewer identified local underprivileged and underserved communities, and developed the schedule for team community service projects.

Prior to GCSU, Brewer was an assistant coach at NJCAA program Louisburg College in North Carolina for five seasons. She oversaw the recruitment of student-athletes, led all logistics for recruit visits and supported the head coach in the daily operations of the team, including game preparation and social media engagement. Among the players she mentored, one was an All-American, two went to play in the EuroLeague and seven were All-Region X for the Hurricanes. The team was ranked nationally in four of her five seasons on staff and as high as 11th in her first year.

Brewer began her coaching career at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia, as the assistant girls’ basketball coach in October 2018. She also worked at the Alexander Basketball Academy in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, during the summer of 2019.

A native of Culpeper, Virginia, Brewer played basketball in her home state at Lynchburg College from 2007-11, averaging 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds while connecting on 95 3-pointers over 87 games in her four seasons on the squad. As a senior, she led the Hornets in scoring, steals and free throw percentage.

Brewer then went on to play professionally in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL), the premier professional development league for women basketball players, with the Winston-Salem Lady Warcats. After earning her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Lynchburg in 2015, she played overseas with Leeds Force in the Women’s British Basketball League. She also picked up her master’s degree in art and design from Leeds Beckett University while in England.
