Christi Kelsey

Head Coach Christi Kelsey was hired to take over the Williams College women's volleyball program in July 2009. To date, she has led the Ephs to 15 straight NESCAC Tournament appearances, including three NESCAC Championship titles. Kelsey has also helped guide the program to six NCAA Tournament appearances, four Sweet 16 runs and a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014.

Kelsey took on the role of Interim Senior Associate Athletic Director for the 2025-26 athletic season, as she has responsibilities in compliance and sports supervision.

During Kelsey's 15 competitive seasons at Williams, the Ephs have gone a combined 252-151 overall for a .625 winning percentage and 95-54 in the NESCAC for a .638 winning percentage. Kelsey earned her 250th career win at Williams during a 3-1 victory at Hamilton on Nov. 1, 2024, in Clinton, New York. Kelsey has guided the program to .500 or above overall records during 14-of-15 seasons and the team has also gone .500 or above in the NESCAC during 14-of-15 seasons. The 2013 team did not lose a single NESCAC match, going 10-0 in the regular season.
 
The Ephs’ volleyball family tradition is rooted in dedication, hard work and excellence in the classroom and on the court. During Kelsey’s tenure, the team and individual student-athletes have earned the following honors:

•            NCAA Division III Tournament Appearances in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2023

•            NESCAC Conference Runner-Up in 2015 and 2023
•            15 straight NESCAC Tournament Appearances

•            24 NESCAC All-Conference Player Awards (15 First Team, 9 Second Team)
•            1 NESCAC All-Defensive Player of the Year Honoree

•            15 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team Honors
 
Additionally, Kelsey serves as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Prior to being hired as head coach at Williams, Kelsey served as the first assistant for Harvard University. While with the Crimson, Kelsey provided on-court coaching, team development and served as Harvard's recruiting coordinator for three seasons. Kelsey also spent five seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for Wellesley College.
 
Kelsey was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2015. Kelsey also earned AVCA Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2013.
 
Kelsey currently serves as the NESCAC representative on the AVCA DIII Head Coaches Committee. She also spent four years as the regional chair for the New England region on the NCAA Division III Volleyball National Championship Committee from 2012-16.
 
A 2000 graduate of Purdue University, Kelsey majored in business and minored in information systems. She was a four-year participant for the Boilermakers in volleyball and earned First Team All-Academic Big Ten honors twice, while being named to the Dean's List seven straight semesters.
 
In 1998, Kelsey was named a Mortar Board Co-Top Scholar Athlete at Purdue and in 1998-99, she earned the Helen B. Schleman Academic Achievement Award.
