Vic Brown enters his second year as Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning at Williams College in 2025-26.

Interim Athletic Director Carolyn Miles announced the hiring of Brown into this position on July 15, 2024.
 
“I am pleased to announce that Vic Brown has accepted the offer to be the next Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Williams College,” Miles stated. “The search committee was impressed with his extensive coaching experience both at Ithaca College and Boston University. Vic has supported a wide range of sports in his career.”

Brown brings 20-plus years of experience working with professional, collegiate and high school athletes to Williams. His strength and conditioning and athletic training experience supports student-athletes and coaches with a multi-disciplinary approach to optimizing human performance, health and well-being. Some of his process knowledge includes applied sports science, nutrition, injury reduction, health optimization and physical preparedness and readiness.
 
Brown comes to Williams College with a successful career in higher education launching and optimizing sport performance programs and applied sports science initiatives. He launched the strength and conditioning program at Ithaca College in 2014, supervising all strength & conditioning programs and testing for the Bombers 27 varsity teams and 850 student-athletes. He was the direct supervisor of approximately 30 strength and conditioning personnel, including full-time assistant coaches, graduate level staff, interns and student employees in two varsity weight rooms.
 
Brown is a highly skilled educator and presenter. Some of his notable work includes serving the NSCA on the CSCS Job Task Analysis, Professional Standards and Guidelines Task Force, Ad Hoc Writer for the CSCS exam and the CSCS Job Analysis Advisory Committee. He is coauthor of chapter 24 in the current Essentials of Strength and Conditioning textbook.
 
Brown received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Springfield College while competing on the baseball team and his Master of Science from Appalachian State University. He earned a High-Performance Leadership Certificate from Cornell University in 2019. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting and National Athletic Training Association.

A native of Augusta, New Jersey, Brown is married to Paula Thoms, Head Women’s Crew Coach at Williams College, and they have two children, Dylan and Tyler.
