NEW LONDON, CT – The Williams College swimming and diving team (1-0) kicked off the 2008-2009 season with a 166-112 win over the Connecticut College Camels. The defending champions pushed past their NESCAC rivals despite being short a few swimmers.

“We were a little shorthanded, but the team made a great effort so we were able to pull through,” said head coach Steve Kuster.

Senior Norman Scott clenched the top spot in the 200 yard butterfly, while junior Gary Roberson dominated the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle. Freshman Greg McElroy stepped up as well, gaining second place in the 200 breaststroke and contributing to the 200 medley relay.

The next contest for the Ephs comes against Boston College and Fordham on December 6, meet time TBA.
