WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Eph head coach Shannon
Bryant said over the weekend that once the Ephs got some confidence
from finishing goals more would come. The visiting Spartans of
Castleton State (2-10-1) felt the effects of a diverse Eph attack
as Williams (2-7-1) collected its second win of the season posting
a 7-0 win.
Five Ephs scored and 10 made it onto the score sheet with either
an assist or a goal as Williams had a season-high seven
tallies.
Hannah Systrom kicked off the Eph offensive parade when she
converted off a pass from Tracey Ferriter at 6:52 of the first
period. Systrom's goal was the first of three in a span of 1:07.
Kristen Tubbs scored off a pass from Joy Lye at 7:26 and Ferriter
netted an unassisted goal at 7:59.
At 11:13 of the period Allison Page made Castleton State pay for
being a man down as she registered a power play goal. Assisting on
the Page score were Lauren Zurek and Torrey Taussig.
Williams scored on all four of their 19 first period shots and
took a 4-0 lead at the first intermission. On the night the Ephs
scored on 7 of 53 shots and were successful on two of nine power
plays.
Ferriter and Tubbs each netted their second goals of the contest
in the second period. Ferriter's tally came at 6:18 with Jacqueline
Berglass assisting. Taussig and Lye set up the Tubbs score at
19:04.
At then end of two periods the Eph held a 6-0 lead and held an
37-10 advantage in shots.
Eliza Foster netted the final goal of the contest at 3:14 of the
third period on a power play opportunity and Lauren Zurek and
Ferriter were credited with assists.
Eph goalie Sara Plunkett made 16 saves in recording her first
shutout of the year. Castleton's Amanda Hoy stopped 46 Eph
shots.
Next up for the Ephs is a road trip to Bowdoin on Friday and Colby
on Saturday.
