MINNEAPOLIS, MN- After Day 2 of the NCAA Division III
National Championships, the Ephwomen and Ephmen represented the
Williams College swimming and diving program by sitting
4th and 20th respectively in the overall
standings. On the day, the Ephs grabbed three fourth place
finishes, one second place finish and an individual event national
championship combined.
Hosted by Macalester College, the national championships are set
to continue Thursday, Mar. 19 and conclude Saturday, Mar. 21. Live

"The women had a solid day and put together another good
performance," said head coach Steve Kuster. "On the men's
side, we have some tough competitors who will have to scrap for
points in the final two days."
The star of the day for the Ephwomen was first year Logan
Todhunter, who captured the first national championship of the meet
for the Ephs in the 100 yard butterfly (53.54), not to mention
breaking the Division III national record, and then helped lead two
relay teams to high points.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Todhunter, along with junior
Lisa Cucolo, sophomore Erin Altenburger, and first year Carolyn
Geller, placed fourth (1:34.65). In the 400 yard medley
relay, Alternburger, Geller, and Todhunter teamed up with senior
Courtney Asher to claim another fourth place finish (3:48.00).
The Ephwomen also helped maintain their fourth spot in the
overall standings by having three swimmers in the top nine of the
400 yard IM. Senior Amanda Nicholson, the defending national
champion, claimed a second place finish (4:17.24) and a school
record, while first year Bonnie Patchen (4:26.80) and sophomore
Ellen Ramsey (4:27.35) finished sixth and ninth respectively.
Rounding out the top performances for the Ephwomen was sophomore
Jillian Hancock, who placed eleventh in the 200 yard freestyle
(1:51.31) and set a new school record.
The star for the Ephmen on Day 2 was senior Norman Scott, who
grabbed a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly.
Scott, along with seniors Tim Ryan and Tyler Bonewell, and
sophomore Gary Roberson, finished 22nd in the 200 yard
freestyle relay (1:26.00). Roberson also grabbed a
21st place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:40.71).
Action at the NCAA Championships continue tomorrow with
preliminaries at 10 AM and the finals at 5:30 PM.
