MINNEAPOLIS, MN-  After Day 2 of the NCAA Division III National Championships, the Ephwomen and Ephmen represented the Williams College swimming and diving program by sitting 4th and 20th respectively in the overall standings.  On the day, the Ephs grabbed three fourth place finishes, one second place finish and an individual event national championship combined.

Hosted by Macalester College, the national championships are set to continue Thursday, Mar. 19 and conclude Saturday, Mar. 21. Live results, Web casts, and photos are available at the Macalester College Website.

"The women had a solid day and put together another good performance," said head coach Steve Kuster.  "On the men's side, we have some tough competitors who will have to scrap for points in the final two days."

The star of the day for the Ephwomen was first year Logan Todhunter, who captured the first national championship of the meet for the Ephs in the 100 yard butterfly (53.54), not to mention breaking the Division III national record, and then helped lead two relay teams to high points.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Todhunter, along with junior Lisa Cucolo, sophomore Erin Altenburger, and first year Carolyn Geller, placed fourth (1:34.65).  In the 400 yard medley relay, Alternburger, Geller, and Todhunter teamed up with senior Courtney Asher to claim another fourth place finish (3:48.00).

The Ephwomen also helped maintain their fourth spot in the overall standings by having three swimmers in the top nine of the 400 yard IM.  Senior Amanda Nicholson, the defending national champion, claimed a second place finish (4:17.24) and a school record, while first year Bonnie Patchen (4:26.80) and sophomore Ellen Ramsey (4:27.35) finished sixth and ninth respectively.

Rounding out the top performances for the Ephwomen was sophomore Jillian Hancock, who placed eleventh in the 200 yard freestyle (1:51.31) and set a new school record.

The star for the Ephmen on Day 2 was senior Norman Scott, who grabbed a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly.  Scott, along with seniors Tim Ryan and Tyler Bonewell, and sophomore Gary Roberson, finished 22nd in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:26.00).  Roberson also grabbed a 21st place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:40.71).
