CLAREMONT, CA—The Williams women's tennis team (4-1)
wrapped up its trip to southern California with a 7-2 win over
Pomona-Pitzer (6-3). The Ephs went 2-0 on their west coast swing.
“It was a very good day,” said head coach Alison
Swain. “Our singles play was very improved from our Redlands
match (on Monday), and we had some close doubles matches that we
pulled out.”
Nicole Reich '11 and Kristin Alotta '12 indeed had a
tight match at number one doubles, finally emerging with a 9-7
victory for the Ephs. Grace Baljon '10 and Taylor
French '12 also won a close number two doubles match 8-6.
“Everyone played well, and we are continuing to
improve,” Swain said. The Ephs will look to keep the trend
going in the upcoming days.
Thursday will be a travel day for the team as they return to the
east coast for three matches against ranked teams over the weekend
in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Ephs will take on the University
of Chicago on Friday, Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, and Emory on
Sunday.
