SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY. – Williams
men's tennis topped off a positive weekend of play on the
courts, grabbing their second win in as many days at Skidmore (7-6)
to even their season record at 3-3. The Ephs used undefeated
singles play to beat the Thoroughbreds, 8-1.
“Overall it was a good day,” said Williams head
coach Dan Greenberg. “We came out a little flat and not
as energetic as we'd like, but that improved throughout the match.
So other than the slow start, I thought the guys did a great job of
taking care of their courts.”
Nick Lebedoff and Dicken Chaplin lost another close doubles
fight, losing 8-6 to Skidmore's top pair. It would be
the only loss of the day for the Ephs, as Bryan Chow and Will
Petrie won easily at court two by an 8-2 margin. Felix Sun
and Trey Meyer delivered an 8-3 victory at court three to send the
Ephs into singles play with a 2-1 margin.
Five of the Ephs six singles players won in straight
sets. Bryan Chow lost his first set 4-6, but recovered to
take the final two sets 6-1, 6-2 at court four. The Ephs have
won two straight and will look to continue their success next
weekend against conference foes Tufts and Amherst.
“Our confidence is definitely picking up,” continued
Greenberg. “Especially in doubles, and we're seeing
ways to get better. We're excited for the week and weekend
ahead.”
The Ephs will host Tufts on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
