Eph first year centerfielder Cedar Blazek (Highlands Ranch, CO)
was named the NESCAC Softball Player of the Week for her
outstanding week in seven games.
Blazek rapped out a hit in each of the Ephs' seven
contests last week, batting .500 (12-for-24) with three home runs,
two doubles, 10 runs scored and five driven in.
Against Middlebury in a 2-1 series victory over the weekend,
Blazek was 7-for-12 with two homers, four RBI and five runs scored.
She was also 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts. In addition Blazek
was perfect on 13 fielding opportunities.
Blazek is fashioning an impressive debut season in the
Berkshires as she is tied for team-high in HRs with six along with
junior Carly Ameen and she leads the Williams team in five
additional categories. Blazek leads in RBI (23), runs (20), hits
(32), total bases (55) and slugging percentage (.663).
Additionally Blazek has been successful on all six of her stolen
base attempts and has thrown out two runners from the outfield.
The Ephs are back in action this afternoon hosting RPI in a
doubleheader before heading to Hamilton this weekend for a key
three-game NESCAC series.
