Box Score

NEW LONDON, CT––Williams (4-4/2-3 NESCAC) put together a strong performance to defeat Connecticut College (3-5/0-5 NESCAC). The win comes at the heels of Williams' loss to Trinity a few days earlier, and helps the Ephs maintain their .500 season.

The first half was a give-and-take game untilt the Ephs took control near the halftime break. Alice Nelson netted the Ephs' first goal one minute into the game. Connecticut responded 30 seconds later, followed closely by senior co-captain Whitney Thayer's first goal of the game. The Camels and Ephs exchanged goals one more time before Williams netted three in a row to finish the half, 6-3 in the Ephs favor.

Both teams came roaring out of halftime, with each team scoring goals in the first fifteen minutes, making the score 10-8. After Conn scored two goals back-to-back, Williams was able to put the game away, scoring six unanswered goals in the final quarter of the game. Connecticut's Libby Nichols scored the last goal of the game, making the final score 16-9.

Thayer scored five goals, freshman Sam Weinstein had four. Seniors Tracey Ferriter, Alice Nelson, junior Anne Marie Burke, and sophomores Margie Fulton, Katie Ellis, Meera Sivalingam, and Taylor Fleishhacker each scored one. Eph starting goalie Julia Schreiber played 55:00 minutes and recorded eight saves; back-up goalie Kate Foley played 5:00 and made one save.

Head Coach Chris Mason was pleased with her team's performance: “It was a pretty awesome game for us. Our conference is very strong and Conn worked really hard and was scrappy and fast. We were very aggressive on the draws and loose balls. We had good ball movement, especially through the midfield, which I think made a difference for us. Schreiber played well, and Foley got in at the end. I was happy that our goals were so spread out: Whitney had five and Sam had four, but seven other people had the other goals. It was a good game.”

The Ephs take on NESCAC rival Amherst at home on Saturday at 12pm.
