SPRINGFIELD, MA -- This season the Williams wrestling team has been stricken by a severe case of the injury bug. Going into their final regular season tune up before the NEWA tournament the Ephs were able to dress only five of their ten regular varsity starters. This led to four forfeit defeats, which proved to be the difference in the Ephs 34-16 defeat at the hands of AIC.
The few healthy Eph grapplers performed well against their opponents. Josh Mattana scored a tech fall victory early in the third period, while Tom Foote and Carson Brooks both earned major decisions.
Zeb Levine earned the forth Eph victory on the day with a decisive 14-8 victory over Kyle Copes.
The Ephs now have ten days off to get healthy in preparation for the NEWA Championships which are to be held at Trinity College (2/26). Action is set to begin at 10am.
