Ephs Fall to Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, CA—Playing their sixth match in the last week, the Williams Men's Tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Westmont College Monday afternoon.

Williams trailed 2-1 after doubles play. Their one win came from the third pair of Zach Weiss and Kevin Shallcross, who handily dropped their opponents by the score of 8-0.

The Ephs struggled at the top during singles play, but received nice wins from Zach Weiss at number five and Dylan Page at number 7. Page had the match of the day for the Ephs, thumping his challenger 6-0, 6-0. Weiss had to come from behind for his win, as he dropped the first set 3-6, won the second 6-4, and then clinched his match with a 10-7 super tiebreak win.

"Westmont was really talented at the top, and with it being our sixth match of the week our guys weren't able to dig in and fight as much as they did this weekend. We'll enjoy these off days coming up, and look forward to our match against Santa Cruz," commented head coach Dan Greenberg.

Williams will enjoy two days off before taking on the Banana Slugs on Thursday. That match is scheduled to start at 2:00 pacific time.
