Sunday, May 15 -- Third Round
Williams (19-3) def. Bowdoin (13-6)
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Williams opened the match by winning all three doubles matches, but it wasn't easy. The Ephs #2 tandem of Kristin Alotta and Taylor French opened their match down 4-0 and bounced back to win 8-5, taking 8 of the last 9 games of the match.
At one doubles the Eph duo of Lucy Marchese and Nikki Reich built at 5-0 lead and ended up downing Bowdoin's Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham 8-4. The Ephs #3 pairing of Kathleen Elkins and Caroline Capute were in control of their match from the start and prevailed over the Polar Bear team of Hannah Hoerner and Chantale Lavertu, 8-3, to give Williams a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Ephs Kathleen Elkins defeated Emma Lewis in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 to give the Ephs their fourth point of the match. It would be senior Lucy Marchese that would close out the match for Ephs, finishing off her opponent, Chantalle Lavertu, 6-4, 6-2.
Williams closed out the match when Lucy Marchese at #3 singles downed Chantelle Lavertu in straight set 6-4, 6-3.
With the win the Ephs advance to the national quarterfinals to be hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on May 24th in Claremont, CA, where they will play the host team. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is currently 21-3 on the year.
Williams is gunnning for their fourth consecutive NCAA title under fourth-year head coach Allison Swain. Swain currenlty owns and NCAA Tourney record of 17-0.

Saturday, May 14 -- Second Round
Williams advances with 5-0 win over Wheaton
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — Williams topped Wheaton College in a 5-0 sweep Saturday morning. The second-round NCAA contest saw grey skies and a cool afternoon, but Williams rolled to a victory by decision.
The Ephs started off by sweeping all three doubles matches. The duo of Lucy Marchese and Nikki Reich played a commanding match at #1 doubles, winning 8-3, and their teammates at #2, Taylor French and Kristin Alotta, matched with another 8-3 win.
The #3 doubles tandem of Caroline Capute and Kathleen Elkins did one better, closing out their opponents 8-2.
Kathleen Elkins was the first Eph to finish in singles when she claimed a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory at #4. Playing on the court next to her, Nikki Reich closed out the match with the final point in a 6-0, 6-1 win at #5.
"The girls were really focused today," head coach Allison Swain said after the match. "We controlled points well all day, and I think the team is really excited to be in the regional final at our home courts."
Williams advances to play Bowdoin College on Sunday at 12 PM. Williams beat the Polar Bears 7-2 earlier in the season.

Bowdoin rolls in 5-0 victory over TCNJ
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—Bowdoin (13-6) topped The College of New Jersey (15-3) in a 5-0 sweep Saturday morning. The second-round NCAA contest saw grey skies and a cool morning, but could not slow Bowdoin, who rolled to a victory by decision.
The Polar Bears started off by sweeping all three doubles matches. The duo of Kellen Alberstone and Kate Winingham took over at #1 doubles, winning 8-3, and their teammates at #2, Emily Lombardi and Emma Lewis, matched with another 8-3 win.
TCNJ's #3 team of Emily Petersack and Felice Trinh put on a late charge, winning two games down 7-3 to tighten the match, but Bowdoin's Hannah Hoerner and Chantale Lavertu closed out the final game to win 8-5.
In singles, Bowdoin #1 Alberstone was again the first off the court in a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Karisse Bendijo. The clinching point came a short while later just one court away, as Lombardi took her match 6-1, 6-2.
Bowdoin advances to play the winner of the Williams vs. Wheaton match, which was starting immediately after the finish of their match.

Friday, May 13
Wheaton (MA) (19-1) Defeated Nichols (21-2) 5-1 to Advance to Second Round
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA– The Wheaton College Lyons (19-1) defeated the Nichols College Rams (21-2) in the first round match of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament this morning on the campus of Williams College.
Wheaton won the first two doubles in a decisive fashion, 8-1, 8-4. Nichols' No. 2 pair Balabanova/Dyakiv beat Hartley/Cooke of Wheaton to give the Bison their single point.
The Lyons won three relatively quick singles matches to secure the win.
Wheaton will advance to the second round tomorrow against Williams College (17-3) at Williams at 11:00 am. In case of bad weather, the match will take place at 11:30 am in Lansing Chapman Rink.
With the loss, Nichols ends its season with a 21-2 record.

TCNJ (15-2) downs Bridegwater State (14-2) 5-0 to Advance to Second Round
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The TCNJ Lions blanked the Bears of Bridgewater State Univeristy 5-0 in a first round match of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis match this morning on the campus of Williams College.
TCNJ won all three doubles in convincing fashion with 8-2, 8-1 and 8-2.
The Lions won their fifth straight match when Karisse Bendijo defeated Allie Tierney at one singles in straight sets to secure the fourth point of the match. Felice Trinh then won at two singles over the Bears' Jessica Francis in straight sets to seal the match.
TCNJ (15-2) will advance to a second round match tomrrow morning at 8:00 at Williams agianst the Bowdoin Polar Bears (12-6).
With the loss Bridgewater ends the season with a record of 14-2.
