Men's Tennis Falls in NESCAC Championship

MIDDLEBURY— The Williams Men's Tennis team fell in the NESCAC Championship match Sunday afternoon to top-seeded Amherst.

The Ephs found themselves in a 3-0 hole after doubles play, which made a comeback difficult to pull off.

Williams fought hard in singles play and led in numerous matches, but the Ephs were closed out before they had the chance to get on the board. Trey Meyer and Matt Micheli were the final Ephs to lose at numbers two and three. At that point Bryan Chow had nearly closed out his match at number 5 and Dylan Page led by a set as well.

"Overall I think this was a great tournament for us. Yesterday's match was certainly a step forward and hopefully there will be something to learn from today. I thought we missed too many first serves which gave them a lot of good looks and Amherst is a great team and will take advantage of that," commented head coach Dan Greenberg after the match.

Though Williams misses out on the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament awarded to the NESCAC champion, their strong record and #10 national ranking will most likely earn them an at-large bid into the tournament.
