Williams sweeps Point Loma 9-0

San Diego, CA – Ephs women's tennis kept up their perfect record today, improving to 10-0, as they defeated Point Loma, now 10-9, by a score of 9-0.

In doubles, the first-year pair of Hannah Atkinson and Linda Shin cruised past their opposition, winning 8-2.  The two upper-class pairings, Shoemaker/Curran and Pylypiv/Elkins, both took their matches by a score of 8-4. "Doubles momentum helped us get off to a strong start in singles," said coach Alison Swain.

The closest match of the day came in the #1 spot, with Kara Shoemaker playing Maika Adair.  Kara took the first set 6-4, and grinded out the win in the second, 7-5.  Rebecca Curran, on the other hand, did not lose a single game, as she defeated Kirsty Mountain 6-0, 6-0.  Kathleen Elkins, Linda Shin, Maria Pylypiv, and Monica Pastor all won their singles matches as well.

Coach Swain praised her team's efforts but is always looking ahead, "Everyone is playing well as a team and taking care of their matches well. Tomorrow should be a great battle as we take on #5 CMS."

The Ephs hope to extend their win streak, going back to last year, to 20 matches as they take on Claremont at 7pm tomorrow, April 2nd.
