Huge Second Place Finish for the Ephs in Budd Whitehill National Duals

WILLIAMSPORT, PA—The Ephs wrapped up the Budd Whitehill National Duals today placing second overall. After yesterday's success, Williams was placed in the championship bracket.

"We wrestled great today. We didn't head to Williamsport to see second-tier competition, and we got what we wanted in a match with Messiah, one of the best teams in the country," noted Coach Scott Honnecker.

The first opponent for the Ephs was Lycoming. Williams was considered the underdog in this match, but came out with a decisive 24-12 victory.

The Ephs lost to Messiah in the championship match 34-6.

Junior Jake Savoca and sophomore Christopher Chorzepa were the only two to scrape out wins in the championship match. There were a lot of close matches, but all ended in Messiah's favor. Honnecker emphasized the valiant efforts put forth by every wrestler each in every match. The Ephs certainly did not go down without a fight.

"The match against Messiah was some of the hardest wrestling we have displayed all season," said Honnecker. "If we take anything away from this match, it is that we need to keep that fighting attitude every time out. I honestly was prouder of our effort in that loss than I was in some of our wins earlier in the weekend."

Both the Williams wrestlers and their coach were very proud of this weekend's performances. "This was our first trip to the finals of this event in many years of attendance. The squad should be very happy, but still far from satisfied as our best wrestling needs to be ahead of us."

Sophomore Chris Chorzepa was named to the All-Tounament Team at 184.

The Ephs continue to have high expectations for the remainder of the season. All of the Ephs wrestlers are healthy after battling some injuries. The Ephs will next travel to Norwich on January 17th.
