NORTHFIELD, VT—The Ephs came back strong after a week
long-break to dominate the Norwich University Cadets by a score of
37-3. Nine of the 10 wrestlers won their matches, resulting
in a landslide victory for the Ephs.
Three Ephs recorded falls in Jorge Lopez (157), Chris Chorzepa
(184), and Anthony Brooks (197).
"The team looked good and it was important to get a competition
in between last weekend's dual tournament and next
week's NEWA Duals," noted Eph head coach Scott Honecker. "The
Duals is one of the highlights of the regular season, and we needed
a strong performance this weekend to springboard us and maintain
our high seed."
"Tim Garripoli had the most significant match of the day,"
Honecker added. "We actually had Martin Strenk ready to take on
Burns, the number one ranked wrestler in the region at
174. When Burns weighed in at 165, I could see the
excitement in Tim growing."
"Tim has made some really positive changes to his mindset this
year. He is really developing into a pure competitor. I was really
confident that Tim could pull it out, but even the coaching staff
didn't expect him to overwhelm the Norwich wrestler in the
manner that he did. Tim should be feeling really confident,
technically this is the best we have seen him look."
"The whole group did well in training this week and fought hard
through the entire dual. We can't rest now though, because we
have to turn it up again next weekend."
Next up for the 6-1 Ephs is the always competitive NEWA Duals on
Sunday, January 25.
