Williams Remains Undefeated a They Top Midd, 7-2

Middlebury, Vt - The Ephs of Williams College traveled to Middlebury on Saturday to face their first conference match of the spring. Consistency has been the key for the Ephs this season, and Saturday proved no different as they defeated the Panthers of Middlebury 7-2.

It was a historic day in doubles for Williams College. Senior Rebecca Curran earned her 100th doubles victory as she and her partner Maya Hart overcame Middlebury's pairing of Amos/Fields, 8-3. Curran joins class of 2011 Eph, Nikki Reich, as being the only other member of the womens tennis team to earn 100 doubles wins. Maria Pylypiv '15 (W) and Julia Cancio '18 (W) followed with success at an 8-2 margin. The pairing of Shin/Raventos (W) continued with doubles perfection, topping the Panthers' Orozco/Sundstrom 8-4, and giving the Ephs a 3-0 lead going into singles.

Head coach Alison Swain commented on today's milestone - "Rebecca and all three of our seniors have made a tremendously positive impact on our program over four years. Rebecca's accomplishment today is a testament to her work ethic, her leadership, and her mental toughness."

Middlebury took two of the singles matches on Saturday, powered by strong performances by Ria Gerger '16 (M) and Katie Paradies '15 (M). It was Williams, however, who proved too strong for their NESCAC opponent, taking 4 of the remaining singles matches thanks to strong play by Julia Cancio, Linda Shin, and Julia Raventos.

The Ephs will continue conference play on Sunday 4/12 has they are scheduled for a doubleheader against the Cardinals of Wesleyan University and the Camels of Connecticut College. The matches are scheduled for 10 am and 2 pm, and will be played at their respective campuses.
