Women's Squash Wins 17th Consecutive Little Three Championship Title

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Ephs made history today by garnering their 17th straight Little Three Championship title. The team defeated fellow NESCAC teams Amherst and Wesleyan on their home courts, winning both matches 8-1.

The morning match against Wesleyan followed the five-court system, with even-numbered players Susana Wilson-Hawken (#10), Caroline Hogan (#8), Ellen Coombe (#6), Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#4), and Hayley Parsons (#2). All five players dominated their match from start to finish, not letting their opponents get a single game. Their teammates followed their lead, with Alyssa Ritchie (#9), co-captain Lily Grant (#7), Esther Baek (#5), and co-captain Nicole Feshbach (#3) all finishing their matches in three quick games. Nicole Friedman (#1) faced a difficult opponent, and fought hard despite eventually losing in three close games, making the final score 8-1 to the Ephs.

The Ephs then faced rival Amherst in the afternoon, again playing the five-court system. Caroline Hogan (#8) and Ellen Coombe (#6) were the first to pull off wins, both defeating their opponents 3-0. Hayley Parsons (#2) and Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#4) both faced difficult opponents and, despite dropping games, came back to win in four close games. Alyssa Ritchie (#9), Lily Grant (#7), and Nicole Feshbach (#3) all defeated their opponents in three games, securing the win for Williams. Esther Baek (#5) faced a very tough opponent and despite fighting hard to win a game, lost 3-1. Nicole Friedman (#1) was the last on court and dominated her opponent in a tight fifth game to win 3-2, making the final match score 8-1.

Co-captain Lily Grant was extremely pleased with the win, stating "After a long weekend, we had extremely strong showings from everyone on our team, with decisive wins against Wesleyan and Amherst. We are proud to have won our 17th consecutive Little Three Title and we are looking forward to continuing the momentum against Brown on Tuesday and NESCACS next weekend."

Assistant coach Blair Dils echoed her words, commenting, "We will never, ever take Little Threes for granted. Winning – and winning in a convincing fashion – is very important to our team, and it was very satisfying to see our girls come through with dominant performances. We have four very important matches coming up in the next few weeks, and we're going into the first one – the Brown match on Tuesday – with a lot of confidence."

The Ephs will face Brown on Tuesday at 5pm at Brown in one of their most pivotal matches of the season.
