HARTFORD, CT – Trailing Trinity 17-16 with three bouts to go the Ephs (1-0) got a 10-1 win by Chris Chorzepa at 184 to take a 20-17 lead and that effort was followed by a pin at 197 by senor Martin Strenk, giving Williams a 26-17 lead and cemented the win.
Williams opened up a 12-0 lead with a forfeit win at 125 and a pin at 5:25 by Ben Morton at 133.
Trinity next got a pin, a win, and a major decision to take a 13-12 lead, before the Ephs' got a 13-2 win by first year Luke Anselmi at 165 to re-take the lead 16-13.
With a four-point win at 174 Trinity was back on top 17-16 just prior to the two big wins by Eph seniors Chris Chorzepa and Martin Strenk.
Eph head coach Scott Honecker said after the match, "I was pleased with the effort tonight, but we're definitely not at our peak and that the lineup needs to be sorted out."
"The good news is we're going to use our winter trip and Winter Study to reinvent ourselves," Honecker added. "We're fortunate enough to have 20 guys with the mindset needed to do that."
Honecker also noted, "The highlight of the night was the return to action of 2-time All American Chris Chorzepa. It was good to have him back on the mat. It's exciting to help him in his pursuit of his over-arching goal of an NCAA title. Lastly we got to see Martin Strenk wrestling his best. We just need to have the rest of our boys following the lead of these two upper classmen."
The Ephs will next see action when they travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the two-day Citrus Invite, Dec. 29 & 30.
