GPA Award from Lonnie Morris of JWU.
Eph starters boast a 3.374 GPA.

BRISTOL, RI – The Williams College wrestling team was seeded fifth in the NEWA Duals and the Ephs finished the day in eighth place. A win over Western New England was followed by a loss to WPI. Next the Ephs suffered a two-point loss to Little Three foe Wesleyan and at day's end Williams fell in a 1-point loss to Springfield, making their record on the day 1-3 and their season record 5-5.
Williams did win the NEWA Team GPA Award for having the highest combined GPA of the 16 competing teams. In addition Eph standout Chris Chorzepa was accorded All-Tournament honors.
"Today was a tough day for my boys," said Scott Honecker. "When you have a young team, you tend to get some inconsistent performances. We had some winnable matches that went the other way."
"The one thing that wasn't inconsistent was the effort and intensity," added Honecker. "Sometimes your guys are wrestling their behinds off and they just end up with less points at the end and that's what happened today. We are growing and improving. I love this team and am so excited about where we are headed. We see Wesleyan again in 13 days. We are going to work harder than ever and do all we can to turn that result around the next time."
Scott Honecker's Williams College wrestling team opened the 2017 NEWA Duals seeded fifth and they faced the 12th seeded Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears in their first match.
At 125 versus WNE the Ephs' Matt Morris was awarded a forfeit win, starting Williams off with a 6-point lead. After six bouts the Ephs had expanded their lead over WNE to 27-0 with Ben Morton (133) and Yo Akiyma (149), notching falls, while Brendon Seyfried (141), Gabe Corrochano (157) and Luke Anselmi (165) all won by decision.
Max Odell won by forfeit at 174 and at 184 Chris Chorzepa pinned his opponent and the Ephs were up 39-0 with two bouts remaining.
Martin Strenk won by decision at 197 and Nicholas Beauchamp was awarded a medical forfeit at heavyweight and the Ephs blanked WNE 48-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
With the win the Ephs improved to 5-2 on the year and WNE fell to 3-8.
