#4 Yale Beats Williams 9-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Ephs lost to a tough Yale team in the Simon Squash Center.

After an exciting and decisive win against Middlebury yesterday, the Ephs started this match off with spirit and determination. The Eph women knew going into the match that the Yale team featured an incredibly stronglineup, but sought to play solid squash and anyone could get some games and maybe even some of the matches.

Up first on court were Caroline Hogan at number 9, Sarah Willwerth at number 6, and Julia Ward at number 3. Hogan and Ward both came on court strong and won their first games, but eventually lost in 4 despite their perseverance. Willwerth lost in three games. Next up, Melissa Swann played at number 8 and took her opponent to four game; Swann had a very close fourth game but ultimately lost the match. 

Esther Baek at number 5 came out strong and won her first game, but then lost in four as well. Co-captain Hayley Parsons lost in four games too. Abby Leblanc at the number 7 position lost in three games, but had many good points. Co-captain Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingram had a close first game, but lost in three at the number 4 position. Co-captain Nicole Friedman played well, but also lost in 3 games.

Co-captain Ananya Mahalingam Dhinghra stated, "Our team had a strong showing against the #4-ranked team in the country, and it was exciting to get so many games off of such good players."

Assistant coach Blair Dils commented,  "Despite the 9-0 final score, we played with confidence today and weren't intimidated by our opponents and their gaudy number four ranking in the country. It was the kind of match we needed if we're going to go to Maine and get the results that will guarantee us the number two seed at the NESCAC tournament."
