Men's Hockey Extends Win Streak to Five After a 3-1 Win Against Tufts

Box Score

Boston, MA–In tonight's matchup, Williams (12-4-1, 8-2-1 NESCAC) beat the Tuft Jumbos (5-11-1, 2-8-1 NESCAC) 3-1 extending the Eph's winning streak to five games. The game was the second time these two teams had faced each other this season and the Ephs redeemed themselves after a 6-2 loss earlier in the season.

Common to most Williams' starts, the Ephs came out of the locker room intent on taking the lead early. They scored their first goal at 1:27 to take the early lead. Junior Wyatt Glover posted the point with assists from senior captain Keanu Hillaire and freshman Tyler Cooligan.

The Ephs were able to extend their lead to two with a goal from sophomore Danial Woolfenden at 14:09, assisted by freshmen Aaron Pinto and Niko Karamanis.

Going into the second period with a two goal lead, the Ephs played a strong defense game to maintain the lead. The Jumbo offensive line pressed forward towards Eph netminder senior Michael Pinios and finally got one past at 10:34 into the second period. The goal came from sophomore Brendan Ryan and junior Tyler Scroggins got the assist.

With the Ephs lead cut in half, tensions were rising as the Tufts offence line advanced on the Eph's zone. However just seconds after Tufts scored their first goal, the Williams squad answered with their third and final goal of the night. At 11:11, senior Marcus Mollica scored his twelfth goal of the season to seal the win for the Ephs. Mollica was assisted by sophomore Mike Armstrong and senior Roberto Cellini.

"I thought the guys played well tonight in all three zones; a very good road win against a strong Tufts team. We know we have to be prepared tomorrow against a determined Conn College team," head coach Bill Kangas said.

The Ephs will face Connecticut College at Connecticut College tomorrow at 3pm.
