Lewiston, ME.—The Ephs (7-5-2/NESCAC 3-4-2) traveled to Bates and faced the Bobcats (6-8-0/NESCAC 3-6-0), securing a 1-0 victory. The Ephs scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute.
Jake Peters put in a delivery from a free kick from half field which was flicked to the back post by
Will Felitto.
Nathan Song met the flick on and poked the ball into the net.
The Bobcats had the first chance of the match in the 10th minute with a chipped ball over the top to Bates forward Owen Keleher. Keleher hit a shot on the volley from 7 yards out and
Ben Diffley parried the ball away from goal.
The Ephs won a free kick at the top of the 18-yard box in the 15th minute.
Nathan Song stepped up to the ball and ripped a shot towards goal which was blocked by the Bates wall.
In the 23rd minute,
Daniel Zhang put in a cross into the box from a free kick. The ball took several deflections and fell to the feet of
Nick Boardman. Boardman shot quickly and Bates keeper Bruce David made the stop.
The Ephs had another opportunity in the 34th minute from another free kick delivery by
Daniel Zhang. Zhang whipped the ball to the front post and
Will Felitto flicked the ball onto the frame, forcing Bruce David to once again make a save.
In the 59th minute, Owen Keleher found a bouncing ball at the top of the box and volleyed the ball with his laces.
Ben Diffley saw the ball safely sail wide.
In the 80th minute, Bates' Max McKersie freed himself at the back post and controlled a cross from the right wing.
Ben Diffley made himself big and McKersie put the shot wide.
The Ephs held on for the rest of the game and maintained their shutout.
Ben Diffley and Bruce David both finished the game with 4 saves.
