CONNECTICUT COLLEGE TRIUMPHS OVER WILLIAMS LATE 1-0

NEW LONDON, CT- Mya Johnson scored late in the 80th minute on Sunday, surging Conn College (5-1-1, NESCAC 4-1-1) past Williams (2-6-1, NESCAC 0-5-1) 1-0.

The goal came at 80:54 when two great touch passes and an assist from freshman Clare Mulvihill led to an opening for junior Mya Johnson to finish. The Camels had been putting pressure on the Eph defense the entire afternoon with 11 shots on goal. Johnson, in particular, had 5 total shots and seemed to be on the verge of finding the back of the net at some point.

Williams stayed competitive throughout the game with 15 total shots. With solid play from the defense and midfield early, the offense had numerous chances to challenge the Camels. Freshman Tori Huang had two great shots in the 10th and 11th minutes that nearly converted. The second half proved to be less rewarding, with the best opportunity coming in the 84th minute from sophomore Claire Tolliver; her desperation attempt flew just over the net.

Goalie Chelsea Taylor followed up her record-setting performance on Saturday with a stellar 10-save outing today. Unfortunately, the flurry of shots from Camels proved to be too much. Coming off a back-to-back, fatigue was apparent; The Williams defense seemed to tire in the second half.

Eph head coach Sarah Raymond remarked, "Our offense competed and battled today in ways that we need to see every game. We created chances and we now need to find a way to finish them. Our keeper and defense showed up for us today. It's a tough result to finish our weekend."

The Ephs look to benefit from the home crowd with matches against Colby and Bowdoin next weekend.
