Ephs Defeated by Connecticut College 2-1 in NESCAC Quarterfinal

 
New London, CT.— The #8 Ephs (7-7-2) took on the #1 seed Connecticut College Camels (13-3-0), losing 2-1 in a hard-fought game. In the 55th minute, Connecticut College's Steve Yeonas tucked away the game-winning goal. Alex Robles controlled the ball on the outside of the 18-yard box and played the ball towards the penalty spot. Yeonas had a first-time strike and curled the ball into the bottom right corner to put the Camels up 2-0.
 
In the 11th minute, Keel Brissett received the ball from Nathan Song at the center of the field. He drove towards goal and laid the ball off to a streaking Dan Rayhill. Rayhill took a touch and struck the ball across goal, just wide of the post.
 
In the 12th minute, Henry Oborn put in a delivery from a free kick and Will Felitto met the ball with his head, directing the ball towards goal. Camel keeper Sam Maidenberg made the save.
 
Steve Yeonas put a cross into the box towards the head of Jack Kelesoglu in the 23rd minute. Kelesoglu directed the ball towards the back post. Ben Diffley shuffled backwards and tipped the ball onto the crossbar.
 
In the last 30 seconds of the first half, the Camels put away the first goal of the match. Alex Robles put in a cross from a corner kick and Jack Kelesoglu headed the ball into the net from 6 yards out.
 
3 minutes into the second half, a chipped ball from the left wing fell to Steve Yeonas.  The Connecticut College forward headed the ball to the upper left corner and Ben Diffley left his feet to make a quick reaction save.
 
The Ephs responded in the 66th minute, as they were awarded a penalty after a Connecticut College handball in the box. Will Felitto stepped up the spot and placed the shot calmly into the bottom left corner.
 
The Camels held their lead for the rest of the game, securing the victory.
 
Ben Diffley finished the game with 7 saves and Maidenberg had 5.
