WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Today's Williams Spring Invitational started with tee times in a breezy, cool but sunny weather. Taconic Golf Club was in good shape even after getting some rain and snow in the past few days. Even though it was a nice, beautiful day for golf, the sneaky wind made the course tricky at times, but the Ephs clearly were too good to let the wind affect them. The Ephs ended their rounds with a total score of 297, taking the victory, 19 strokes ahead of Amherst who fired a 316. The third place was Hamilton at 322. The 297 by the Ephs today was just one shot off their best ever round at Taconic of 296 in May of 2019.

The Ephs managed to make lots of pars, staying away from big trouble and hazards. Freshman
Tianyi Zhuang, following her medalist title last week, took the first place title again this week. Zhuang posted a solid 72 and said, "The team did such a fantastic job! Everyone played very solidly, and I am very impressed with how supportive everyone was. Today was my first tournament at Taconic, and I really enjoyed playing at this beautiful course. My iron game was great today which helped accomplish a high green in regulation."

Senior
Holly Davenport came in with a 74 sitting at second place on the leaderboard. Sophomore
Malini Rudra shot a 75 to take sole possession of third place. Junior
Olivia White was one shot behind Rudra, taking the fourth place  and freshman Melina Yuan posted a 78 (T5), in her second collegiate level tournament.

Senior
Stella Woo, playing as an individual, shot a 79 with lots of up and downs to be placed in 8th place. Senior
Mehr Sawant, playing as an individual, shot an 83 with an individual ranking of 19th place. Senior
Gabby Martin, also playing as an individual, shot a 92, and finished in 22nd place.

"I was very impressed with how composed the team stayed all day," noted Eph head coach
Tomas Adalsteinsson. "We woke up early for testing, and had a late tee time playing in fivesomes. It makes for a long day, and the ladies kept their focus on one shot at a time. The players have been doing great at practice and it's starting to show on the weekends. Seeing the top five players in the top five spots individually is a sign of how well they are doing across the board. We still have room for improvement, and we'll use practices this week to get ready for NESCAC Championship play."
Â
Next weekend will be the start of their two-weekend NESCAC Championship hosted by Amherst College at The Ledges Golf Club.
