WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.. – 2021 NESCAC Champion Williams College placed four team members on the All-NESCAC First Team and sophomore
Malini Rudra was named the Golfer of the Year and freshman
Tianyi Zhuang was tabbed as the Rookie of the Year.
Joining Rudra and Zhuang on the First Team honors were junior
Olivia White and freshman
Melinda Yuan. The 36-hole combined scores from the NESCAC #1 and NESCAC #2 events for each golfer were used to determine the 2021 NESCAC Women's Golf All-Conference Team. The top seven golfers with the lowest 36-hole totals, including ties, earned a spot on the First Team.
Williams won both NESCAC #1 (319) and NESCAC #2 (309) events and posted a 36-hole team total of 628 to claim the 2021 NESCAC Women's Golf Championship. The Ephs have won all five NESCAC titles to date.
Rudra tied for medalist honors at both events. She shot a 78 to share the lead with Hamilton's Allie LeeHoffman and Middlebury's Katie Murphy at the NESCAC #1 event and was two strokes better at the NESCAC #2 event, firing a 76 and tying teammate
Olivia White at the top of that leaderboard. Her 36-hole total of 154 was the best among the field of 28 golfers.
Rudra is the fourth Eph to garner NESCAC Golfer of the Year honors (Phoebe Mattana, 2015; Elizabeth Gudas, 2016; Cordelia Chan, 2017).
Zhuang finished with a 36-hole total of 158 over the two events. She carded an 81 (T9) at NESCAC #1 and improved by four strokes at NESCAC #2 with a 77 (3rd). She is the third golfer from Williams to earn NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors, joining Cordelia Chan (2015) and
Joanna Kim (2018).
