Ephs Best Babson in 2-1 Win

Williamstown, MA.— In the second game of their doubleheader weekend, the Ephs (3-1-1) faced off against the No. 19 ranked Babson Beavers (5-2-0), winning 2-1. The game-winning goal was scored by Brady Foehl after a combination play between Keel Brissett and Tate Michelson. At 66:26, Keel Brissett blew by his defender and bolted towards goal. Brissett squared the ball across the field to Tate Michelson, quickly nudging onto Brady Foehl. Foehl picked his head up and calmly slotted the ball into the left corner of the goal.

The Ephs tallied the first goal of the game at the 7:30 mark. Felipe Gutierrez settled the ball in the midfield and matched Nathan Song's forward run with a perfectly timed through ball. Song shifted the ball onto his right foot and blasted the shot into the side netting from 12 yards out.

The Ephs' chances continued in the 13th minute when Eli Petrik lofted a ball to the far post. Nick Boardman rose above his defender, heading the ball at goal and forcing the Babson keeper Itai Rubin to make a goal line save.

With 55 seconds remaining in the first half, Babson's Mitchell Collins played a low driven cross across the 6 yard box, and teammate Shamar Rainford placed the ball past Eph goalkeeper Ben Diffley to tie the game 1-1.

In the 46th minute, Felipe Gutierrez drove the ball through midfield and played the ball to Eli Petrik out wide on the right. Eli placed the ball into the path of Henry Osborn who ripped a shot from 12 yards, just past the outside of the left post.

Williams stood tall for the last 15 minutes of the game and secured their second home victory of the season.

Ben Diffley and Itai Rubin both made 4 saves on the day.

"Great performance today, especially on the ball," said head coach Steffen Siebert post-game. "Very proud of the guys for creating multiple opportunities by being patient, which is how we scored both of our goals today."

The Ephs will hope to continue their out-of-conference success as they travel away to Springfield College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
