WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS –– In a matchup circled on both teams' calendars, neither team disappointed the many fans on Cole Field. Both halves were ripe with end-to-end action, with Shae Rashoff's effort ultimately determining the game's result.
Following a back pass by Tori Huang, Rashoff dashed along the 18-yard line before chipping the Amherst keeper with finesse.
Amherst had its fair share of attacking moments, but the Ephs' defense held strong. Leyla Kamshad, the returning NESCAC player of the week, had six saves to her name, including a close-ranged stop that denied Mammoth's Abby Schwartz a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
In the 50th minute, Emma Lynch fired from the corner flag towards Amherst stopper Mika Fisher, almost doubling their lead.
In a contested battle between two impressive teams, the Ephs will happily walk home with all three points.
Today's victory vs. the Mammoths makes it 5 in a row, and places them at 5-1 in NESCAC play. They'll look to build on their excellent form before they face Connecticut College at home on Oct. 8.
