COMPLETE RESULTS
Clinton, NY– The sun was shining in Central New York this morning as the Williams College Men's Cross-Country team toed the line for the 2022 NESCAC Championship. The men claimed first place, scoring 41 points to triumph over fellow New England Small Colleges Colby (2nd, 104) and Middlebury (3rd, 106). This marks the 20th time the Ephs have won the NESCAC title, third year in a row, and the seventh time in the last nine years.
Elias Lindgren '23 pulled away from the competition early in the race, crossing the finish line in a time of 23:25–nearly 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Tyler Morris of Colby. Lindgren claimed the NESCAC individual title, winning his fifth race of the 2022 cross country season.
The next finisher for the Ephs was
John Lucey '24. Lucey moved up throughout the race, finishing strong in a time of 24:11 to place 4th overall. Taking 7th for the Ephs,
Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos '25 who ran a time of 24:27. Next, in a photo-finish,
Charles Namiot '25 and
Simon Kissam '23 crossed the line in 24:41.3 and 24:41.5, placing 14th and 15th overall. Lindgren, Lucey, and Tuohy-Gaydos earned All-NESCAC First Team honors and Namiot earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors for finishing within the top 14 individual places.
In yet another close Williams finish, William Spollen '23 raced to 19th place (24:49) with
Chris Ratcliffe '24 not far behind in 20th (24:53).
Nate Lentz '24 and
Nikhil DeNatale '26 worked together up the final hill into the finishing stretch, running 25:10.4 (26th) and 25:10.6 (27th), respectively. The next members of the herd to cross the line were juniors Pat Theveny (25:20),
Luke Tichi (25:28), and
Jacob Lehmann Duke (25:41).
Rick Yanashita '26 finished only eight seconds behind Lehmann Duke in a time of 25:49, pulling along
Victor Cazabal '25 to a 25:59 finish. After having a stitch from the outset,
Bradley St. Laurent '26 was still within range of the pack, crossing the line in a time of 26:14.
After the race, Lindgren enthused that, "The team energy was fantastic as always. This race really revealed the strength and depth of our pack. It's great to be out there racing as part of a whole." Head coach Pete Farwell '73 echoed these sentiments. "At this point in the season, a lot of the men are thinking ahead to Nationals. The NESCAC conference is very strong, and getting the opportunity to compete against these teams has helped us to be mentally as well as physically prepared for the rest of the season ahead."
The Ephs will race next at the Division III Mid-East Regionals at St. Lawrence University on November 12th.
