Clinton, NY – The Hamilton College Continentals (5-3, 3-2) would capitalize on two man-advantages throughout the game en route to a 4-2 win over the Williams College Ephs (3-5, 2-4).
After an early goal just a minute into the contest, Hamilton took control at home versus the Ephs. In a relatively quiet first period, neither team managed to get an offensive roll with Williams outshooting the Continentals 7-6.
In the second period, the game began to open with chances being created on both ends. Hamilton would double their lead just four minutes in and would tack on another halfway through the frame. Down 3-0, Williams needed a spark and they found it in first-year
David Vieten as he would quickly answer back, finding the back of the net 30 seconds later.
Following a 5-minute penalty to Hamilton's Grisha Gotovets at the end of the second period, Williams came out in the third with an extended man advantage. They wouldn't take long to cash in with
Mac Carso scoring just a minute in off a feed from
Jared Lambright. For a stretch after the goal, Williams looked poised to find the equalizer, however, Hamilton goaltender Charlie Archer would stand tall for the remainder of the game.
Hamilton would add a powerplay goal of their own later in the period to seal their 4-2 victory. Williams' Coach
Zack Goodman said, "after a slow start we started to gain some momentum in the game and competed hard. We took some penalties that Hamilton capitalized on and that was a big difference in the game".
The Ephs head into the break with a losing record and will look to change the tides as they face off with a very strong Adrian team on December 30
