ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Williams College wrestling team finished seventh in the 12-team field at the RIT Invitational scoring 81 points.
Eph head coach
Scott Honecker was excited about how his team performed, "Today was a great day of wrestling," said Honecker. "All our men competed hard and are already showing gains from the first 2 competitions."
"
David Yeh (125) really was dominant today, earning bonus in every match including the finals on his way to gold," added Honecker. "This is his first major tournament title, so I hope he takes a second to enjoy his accomplishment today. I won't be doing the same — he is nowhere near where we expect to have him wrestling in the second semester. Good news is, with his attitude and work ethic I anticipate he has the same plans as the coaching staff."
"
Scotty Richter (141) came back with a vengeance after missing the Doug Parker Tournament at Springfield College," stated Honecker. "He rattled off 4 bonus point wins to make the final where he had a narrow loss to take home the silver medal. He has really been turning it up in practice and I am excited to dig into the film with him."
"
Caleb Seyfried (149) took a couple steps up the podium to take bronze in an extraordinarily deep weight class," commented Honecker. "He is still so early in his development as a collegiate wrestler. I think it is likely we will be surprised by him several times this year, due to his steep upward trend."
