Winter Haven, FL (March 25) -- In the second game of the day the
Ephs took on The College of Wooster, and it was a largely one sided affair. The Fighting Scots' lineup was formidable, smacking six extra base hits in the game, including two home runs.
Will Jeffries started the contest on the mound for the
Ephs, allowing 10 runs, only six earned, over 1.2 innings.
The
Ephs offense unfortunately couldn't kick into gear, striking out 15 times during the 7 inning game. Tyler
Spiezio boosted team morale by lacing a double to the right center gap in the top of the second, and he eventually scored on a throwing error.
Henry Juan was also a bright spot for the
Ephs offense, collecting two hits, most notably an RBI double in the third inning that cut the Wooster lead to seven (10-3). Brendan
Stannard and
Jakob Cohn also had hits in the seventh inning.
Eph head coach BillÂ
Barrale stated after the game, "We knew we were going to face adversity when we came down to Florida. We talked about getting hit in the mouth. We're going to have to see what we're made of."
The
Ephs hope to stop their five-game losing skid on Saturday against Benedictine University.
