Ephs Lose Afternoon Game to Augustana

The Short Story:  Williams jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Augustana scored six runs in the third and a late Ephs comeback fell short.

Coach's Take: "We were not sharp this afternoon.  Our hitting was good overall but we couldn't get a timely hit and our pitching and defense were unable to hold their ground in the meantime." - Kris Herman

How It Happened

• Madison Mok started strong on the mound for the Ephs, allowing just two baserunners the first time through the order
• The Ephs outhit the Augies eleven to nine but left twenty-four runners on base, including two each in the 5th and 7th.
• Mok and Elyse Chan combined to complete the game.

Inside the Box Score

• First-year Sydney Fleming was 3 for 4 with a double, upping her team lead in that category
• Senior Mara Kipnis was the other Eph with a multiple hit game.  She added an RBI and a walk in her return from injury
• Eight Ephs had hits in the game.

Next up for the Ephs - Williams wraps up the season on Sunday with two games, vs. Westminster College (MO) at 9:30 and Elmhurst College at 1:45 before returning to Williamstown.
