Ephs End Florida Trip with a 12-3 Victory Over Elmhurst

Score: Williams 12, Elmhurst 3

Location: Clermont, FL
Records: Williams 7-5

The Short Story:  Six runs each in the first and second innings and strong pitching allowed Williams to coast to the run-rule victory in the spring trip finale.

Coach's Take: "At the beginning of the trip we were falling behind early consistently. In the second half that's not been our problem. It's a lot of fun to hit like that and I think we can and should do that every time out!" - Kris Herman

How It Happened
  • Madison Mok started strong on the mound for the Ephs and Elyse Chan allowed just two baserunners in two innings of relief.
  • The Ephs had five consecutive hits in both of the first two innings, most of them rockets off the bat, highlighted by Syd Fleming's HR to lead off the second.
  • Williams sent 11 batters to the plate in the first and ten in the second to put themselves way ahead from the first pitch
Inside the Box Score
  • First-year Kayla Chang continued to be hot, going 3-3 on the day with 3 RBI.  Classmate Sydney Fleming had two hits and two RBI as well.
  • Senior Mara Kipnis had another multiple hit game, as did Junior Bailey Burger-Moore and Kelly McGuigan '24.
  • The top five hitters in the order for the Ephs combined for 12 hits.
Next up for the Ephs - Williams heads home from Florida on Monday and opens the New England season with a doubleheader at RPI on Wednesday afternoon
