Box Score Middletown, CT – An early seven goal run from #11 Wesleyan University (11-3, 6-3) proved to be enough to down the Williams College Ephs (5-8, 2-6), never conceding that advantage, going on to win 18-8.
The Ephs would finally break their drought a few minutes into the second half as
Christina Halloran would convert from a free position shot.
Grace Collier and
Isabel Arvelo would contribute one each in the final five minutes of the half, giving the Ephs a chance to continue their momentum into the second half.
Wesleyan would be quick to silence the comeback as they would fire home three in three minutes to open the second half. Williams would not quit, however, as Shea van Den Broek would find the back of net, followed by an assist to set up
Claudia Russell.
Grace Collier would tally her second of the game with the clock winding down in the third quarter as the Ephs entered the final frame down eight.
The Cardinals would come out looking to close the gates, as they would score four unanswered goals before the Ephs were able to respond.
Abby Godwin and
Mason Yonge would score late on, as the Ephs looked to find some positivity heading into their next game.
The Ephs will look to bounce back next weekend as they hit the road again. They will face Hamilton College in a crucial NESCAC matchup with playoffs approaching quickly.
