BRUNSWICK, ME – This afternoon, the #15 Williams women's squash team took on the #16 Bowdoin Polar Bears in their second match of their Maine road trip. After some intense matches against this team last season, the Ephs were prepared for a full-out battle. They carried yesterday's electric energy to Brunswick and emerged with a 7-2 victory.
The first round of matches set a positive tone for the afternoon. #7
Nora Brant found good length and intensity early in the match and kept them going for an 11-1 win in the third to put the first point on the board. #2
Quan Ng found herself in yet another 4-game battle. Per usual, she remained steady and smart on court to get the team's second point. At the same time, #4
Mira Kamat was beginning the closest match of the day. She won the first two games 11-9 and 13-11, respectively, with some beautiful drop shots and by not giving up on any rally. Kamat's opponent swung back to steal the third, fourth, and eventually the fifth in a close 11-8 finale.

Isabel Kelly efficiently took down her Polar Bear opponent by focusing on moving her from side to side. #6
Deena Iqbal displayed intensity and skill in her middle-court match but unfortunately fell 3-0 to an experienced player. In the final match of round 2, #3
Theresa Kay battled through injury. Despite losing the first game 11-7, she persevered and stuck to her game plan to win the second, third, and fourth games.
The last round of the day had strong showing. #8
Roshni Pal found herself in close games but never lost control of the match to clinch the bottom court's third 3-0 win of the day. Next door, #5
Amanda Solecki was locked in mentally and physically. She kept the ball deep and waited to volley allowing her to win games 1 and 2. And although she lost the third, Solecki remained positive to take the fourth 14-12. #1
Haley Jefferson wrapped up the afternoon with solid victory. She lost the third in with a close 15-13 score but continued to move her opponent around the court to grab the seventh win of the day.
After the match, co-captain Niki Srivastava commented "The team's excellent performance and spirit today was a testament to the countless hours of hard work we've been putting in. Each and every person not only showed up but showed out, leaving everything they had on the court, and as a teammate, captain, and friend, I couldn't be prouder. We'll be riding the high of this big win into another week of intense training before our highly awaited first weekend of home matches. Go Ephs!"
In their twelfth and final consecutive away match, and for a chance to bring their win streak to 6, the Ephs challenge Colby at 12 pm tomorrow.
