Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

A Thrilling Game at the Chap Ends Williams 3 Wesleyan 3

Williamstown, MA – As the time wound down in the third period of a packed Lansing Chapman Rink, the Williams College Ephs (3-8-1, 2-5-1) trailed the Wesleyan University Cardinals (6-2-1, 4-1-1) 3 to 2. With 49 seconds on the clock, Mac Carso and Connor Berg would connect to find Nicholas Rashkovsky in front who buried his chance to send the teams to OT. The five-minute extra frame could not solve the deadlock and the game resulted in a thrilling tie.

Once again, the Ephs fell behind early as the Cardinals would strike against the run of play. The Ephs would continue to dominate possession and chances throughout the first period until a puck was fired from the point by Ethan Prout, and slotted home by Mac Carso. The teams would trade chances until the first buzzer sounded and they exited the period tied at one.

The second period saw the Ephs maintaining their pressure on the Cardinals, however, the visitors would edge ahead on the man advantage late in the period. The Ephs did not go to the locker room quietly; Mac Carso and Connor Berg would play catch at the blue line and find Sean Clarke in front to level the Ephs with just 8 seconds left.

The Cardinals would begin to turn up the heat in the third as the play opened across the ice. Midway through the final period Wesleyan would take their third lead of the game off the stick of Wiggle Kerbrat to make it a 3-2 game. The Ephs pulled their goalie with two minutes remaining and the onslaught began. Shot after shot was fired at the Wesleyan net until Rashkovsky would finally score the tying goal. In front of a rocking student section the Ephs celebrated, and they were rallied on as the teams headed into overtime.

The extra time would solve nothing, however, and the two teams would exit with a 3-3 tie. The Ephs will try to keep the momentum going as they host Albertus Magnus next Friday at 7 PM.
