Middlebury, VT- The women's tennis team made their way up route 7 to Middlebury, VT for the Panther Invite today. On the first evening, they took on SkidmoreĀ and defeated the Thoroughbreds in 3-0 in exciting doubles matches.
The Ephs came out strong and swept Skidmore in doubles with some new pairings. #3 doubles team Yuu Ishikawa and Julia Zhang battled their way to victory through many long points and aggressive net play, winning their set 8-4. The #2 doubles team, Annabelle Siegel and Ahn Lin, overpowered their opponents to decisively take the win 8-3. Back from a strong ITA showing, #1 doubles Margaux Molyneux and Jane Ladaga beat a gritty duo in a close match 8-6. While the score bounced back and forth, they remained confident throughout and flawlessly executed their plays, which ultimately led to winning a crucial game at 6-6.Ā
Eph head Coach Anik Cepeda noted "I could tell they were working hard to implement the skills we've been training the past few weeks. It was a fun start for sure. Looking forward to watching them celebrate and puzzle through even tougher moments together on Day 2."
The tournament will continue Saturday at 9 AM for a second day of 2 singles matches and a doubles round against teams from Skidmore, Middlebury and Colby. The Ephs rwill now est up and look forward to another day of being together on the court as a team!
