Williamstown, MA - This Friday, the Williams Men's Squash team faced off against Yale at their home courts. The Ephs faced tough opponents down the line, and although the score was 9-0 in Yale's favor, in many games the Williams player had eight or more points, but just wasn't able to convert. Co-Captain
Andrew Minnis said that "this was another good experience for us, we just need to be more constantly converting game balls against these top teams"
Starting off the Ephs in the three court system was Co-Captain Will Evans, who would have streaks high quality play, but ultimately lost in 3. Next up was Alex Akbari, who gave his opponent a close run in the first and second game, but also lost in three. Last up in the first round for the Ephs was Charles Merrill, who faced a talented opponent and fell in three.
Starting the second round for the Ephs Asher Leavy, who put the pieces of his game together in the third game, and won 11-9, but ultimately lost in four. Next up was first year Hudson Lin, who played very disciplined squash and had a few game balls in the second, but fell in three. Last up for the Ephs was Leonard Lee, who also had a game ball in the second but fell in three as well.
And ending the match for the Ephs was Co-Captain Andrew Minnis, who although lost in three, exhibited some high quality squash and had a few game balls in his second game against a very strong opponent at the #1 seed. Next up was first year Nick Agger, who played tight squash but ultimately fell in three. And last up for the Ephs was John Nicholson, who had a game ball in the second but could not convert and lost in three.
Overall, the Ephs may not have put up the best score against Yale, but improvement from each member of the team was shown. They look forward to playing Columbia at home tomorrow.Â
