LAKE PLACID, NY – The EISA collegiate circuit kicked off the extended Saint Lawrence Carnival Regionals series today with a GS race to make up for the postponed St. Mike's Carnival GS from three weeks prior. The infamous Whiteface Mountain greeted the field with frozen rain and slick, hard icy conditions. Despite today's race counting solely as a NCAA qualifying race and carnival points scoring opportunity, the Ephs threw down solid runs across both genders, capping off the day with senior
Isabel Grondin securing her first career top-10 finish and junior Chris Golden scoring NCAA points.

Senior
Isabel Grondin kicked off her final collegiate carnival weekend with a career-day, skiing from bib 30 into 7th place after the first run. After toughing it out through rowdy snow conditions and poor visibility on the second run, she finished off the day in 9th place overall, 3.78 seconds off the women's leader, Justine Clement of the University of Vermont. Scoring 29 carnival points and NCAA points on the day, Grondin will look to capitalize on her improved starting position for tomorrow's GS race.

After first run, the Ephs had five finishers on the men's side looking to break into the top-30 on the second run. However, due to freezing rain and poor visibility, the EISA circuit decided to terminate the race after sending the first 25 skiers on the second run. As a result, the race was voided, yet NCAA points were allocated to the top-30 finishers from the first run, scoring junior Chris Golden three NCAA points for the day.

The Ephs look forward to returning to Whiteface Mountain, New York, tomorrow for the GS portion of the Saint Lawrence Carnival series, the sixth and final collegiate carnival of the 2023 winter season.
