Ephs Down FDU-Florham 20-7 for 5th Straight Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – The Williams College women's lacrosse team notched their fifth consecutive win recording a 20-7 victory over visiting FDU-Florham (1-6).
 
Williams (5-1) netted the first eight goals of the contest and held the visiting Devils scoreless for nearly 20 minutes in improving to 5-1 on the year. With the loss FDU-Florham falls to 1-6.
 
The Ephs Sasha Landau netted the first goal of the game at 9:58 off a feed from Molly Hellman and then Landau assisted on Grace Collier's goal at 7:57. Franny Donahue had a hand in the next three goals first setting up Claudia Russell for a score and then netting two unassisted goals. Kate McCullough off a feed from Sasha Landau gave the Ephs a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.
 
The Ephs had 12 shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, while FDU-Florham had 3.
 
At 11:28 in the second quarter Emma Ciquera scored off a pass from Marissa Ross with the Devils in a man up situation. Ciquera and Ross teamed up a for a second FDU-Florham goal and when Marissa Ross scored the Devils' third straight goal Eph head coach Alice Lee called a timeout. The Ephs took a 10-4 lead into the halftime intermission when Kate McCullough and Christina Halloran scored.

FDU-Florham Alison Kozik made 6 saves, 10 goals allowed
Williams' Caroline Pratt made 4 saves allowed 4 goals.
 
Caitlyn Joyce went in goal for the Ephs in the third quarter. The Eph attack continued to flourish as Williams tallied the first four goals of the second half with Franny Donohue scoring twice and Katy McCullough and Grace Collier once to boost the Eph lead to 14-4.
 
The Devils got goals from Emma Ciquera and Lizzy Escudero to narrow the Eph lead to 14-6, but Meaghan Day and Claudia Russell answered for the Ephs and the lead was back to 10 goals, 16-6.
 
In the final quarter the Ephs got goals from Russell, Landau, Abby Godwin and Anna Miller offsetting goals by the Devils' Julianna Medina, Escudero and Ciquera.
 
Eleven of the 20 Eph goals were assisted tallies. The Ephs outshot the Devils 37 to 13 and the Ephs collected 32 ground balls to the Devils 17. Williams caused 15 Devil turnovers on the day.
 
FDU-Florham's Alison Kozik made 9 saves and allowed 20 goals. The Ephs' Caitlyn Joyce made 1 save and allowed 2 goals in the third quarter. Anj Raman played the fourth quarter and she allowed 1 goal and made 1 save.
 
Franny Donahue led the Eph attack with 4 goals and 3 assists.
 
The Ephs outshot the Devils 31 to 13. Williams collected 32 ground balls to the Devils' 17.
Williams was successful on 21 of 22 clears. The Ephs caused 15 turnovers in the contest.
 
Eph head coach Alice Lee commented, "It was a great team win, everyone stepped up. Before the game I asked everyone to come out strong and play our game and everyone stepped up on and off the field."
 
Next up for the Ephs is a home NESCAC contest versus Connecticut College on Saturday March 25 at 1:00 PM on Farley-Lamb Field.
