Santa Barbara, CA – Williams men's tennis closed out their spring break trip with a 6-1 victory over Westmont College this morning. The Ephs earned the doubles point after strong performances on each doubles court. On the singles front, senior
Karan Amin, sophomore
Shawn Berdia, and first year
Nicholas Chen were pushed to three sets.
In the doubles play, the Ephs jumped out to a lead on each court and never looked back. The first year duo of Chen and
Jason Shuler continued their fine form as a new doubles partnership. Similarly, Berdia and first year
Simon Volkema started right where they left off at CMS. Senior
Chase Cohen and junior
Matt Kandel added another dominant performance to their resume.
In singles, Kandel, Volkema, and sophomore
Andrew Chong cruised to straight set victories. Both Amin and Chen dropped their opening sets 6-4 but battled back to win the final two sets. Berdia played an impressive first set, winning 6-0, but was ultimately defeated in three sets. Reflecting on the spring break trip, Amin stated, "Overall, I think this was a productive week and a half. We enjoyed playing in the sunshine and can't wait to carry the momentum gained back home."
The Ephs will now travel home to Williamstown where they will prepare to host Trinity and Connecticut College over the weekend.
