Williamstown, MA - On their home courts, the Ephs (6-4/2-2 NESCAC) won thier third straight match defeating Trinity College 9-0. Despite the long weekend and rain delay, the Ephs remained focused and energetic. In the end they swept the Bantams 9-0. Eph
Head Coach Anik Cepeda said this about her team, "They bounced back in doubles today and that set the tone for the match. The coaches are excited about how this team is evolving this season."
The Ephs were all business today in doubles, with all three teams quickly finding a 6-1 lead. Number one doubles team
Katherine Orgielewicz and Yuu Ishikawa and number two doubles team
Jane Ladaga and Ananya Aggarwal both found a crisp win at 8-2, while number three doubles team
Maya Jamroz and Mia Thomann came in at 8-3. With a 3-0 lead, Williams went into their singles round with a lot of confidence.
At number three, Thomann played a close match, going toe to toe with her Bantam opponent. Due to her heavy balls and consistency, Thomann secured another win for the Ephs at 6-4, 6-4. Coming out firing in the first set, number four Aggarwal secured a 6-1 lead. While her opponent stepped up her game in the second set, Aggarwal did not lose focus and closed it out at 6-4. Number five Ladaga also played a competitive match and due to her focus and positivity won at 6-3, 6-4. Number one Orgielewicz and number two Ishikawa both beat their opponents routinely 6-2, 6-2, while number six Jamroz won, only dropping three games, giving Williams 9 points and the definitive win.
Cepeda adds, "We're looking forward to capping off three straight days of matches versus Conn College. Shoutouts to the whole team for working together to get the courts dry so we could play outdoors!" The Ephs look forward to playing Connecticut College tomorrow at 2pm.
