Williams Defeats Skidmore 16-2 On the Road

Saratoga Springs, NY - The Williams College Baseball Team posted a 16-2 win on the road over the now 16-7 Skidmore College Thoroughbreds.

Williams sophomore Max Heart took the win after pitching a phenomenal 5 innings, fueling the Ephs win. Hart finished the game allowing just a single earned run with a pair of strikeouts. Taking the loss was Matt Karpousis who pitched 2 innings and gave up 2 earned runs.

Williams hitters had themselves a day, finishing with an astounding eleven different scorers contributing to the win. The Ephs opened the game strong as the first three hitters all made it home safely. Matthew Brown scored the fourth run for the Ephs. Skidmore's Jackson Hornung hit a home run to left center, getting the Thoroughbreds on the board. Skidmore's 1 run would hang on the scoreboard until the ninth inning.

The ballgame remained 4-1 until the eighth inning when Teddy Massingham reached first off an error, leading to a Brandon Stannard score. Luca Lopetrone would add 2 more to the score with a homer to left field. Williams established a 7-1 lead with no intention of letting up.

The Ephs ignited in the ninth inning with a thrilling nine runs to close out a beautiful day on the diamond. Skidmore's Zachary Leiderman added their second run with a homer to left center.

The Ephs look to keep their momentum going, as they prepare to take on rival Amherst College (currently 10-8-1) in a conference series kicking off Friday in Amherst.
