Ephs Lose to Amherst, 8-6

Box Score Amherst, MA - The Williams College Baseball team was defeated by Amherst College in the series opener, 8-6. The Mammoths big fifth inning would be the deciding factor.

Williams started the game extremely strong, scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning. Mike Giove would score first, followed by Jakob Cohn. Dave Mosrie then hit a single to left field, sending Brendan Stannard and James O'Conner home. Williams batters continued to attack in the second, adding another two runs to the board.

The game was all Amherst from this point on. The Mammoths scored their first run in the third, off an unearned run from Jack Sampedro. The rest of the Amherst runs would come in the fifth inning, when they would score 7 runs. The push in the fifth was enough to take down the Ephs.

Taking the win for Amherst was Tristan Kim, pitching 8 innings and finishing with 9 strikeouts and no earned runs. Unfortunately, Eric Gage would take the loss for the Ephs, pitching 4 innings giving up 5 earned.
